bio

John Walsh was born in The Bronx, NY- otherwise known as Ireland’s 33rd county at a very young age. At the tender age of 10, his family moved to Kilkenny, Éire where great hurlers are born by the minute. Not being very skilled at the ancient art of Hurling, he took up guitar and was lucky enough to be surrounded by a rich musical heritage in Kilkenny where he learned music of all sorts and kinds. After spending years soaking up as much music as he could, he moved back to NY, met more musicians there and is presently running a Music centre for teaching, music therapy and recording studio, Noreside Music, based in Yonkers, NY and performing solo and with the bands, Jameson’s Revenge , Noreside and Luther’s Boots along with plenty Traditional Irish musicians such as Paddy Keenan, Brian Conway and others.

John’s recordings include “aon dó trí”, “arís” and his latest, “noreside”- a new road for his albums featuring mostly songs- after the first two bearing mostly original and traditional tunes. He is also featured on many albums in the Traditional Irish world along with Jameson’s Revenge albums “Straight From The Bottle” and “While Yer Up”.

Along with performing and recording music, lately John has been treating patients with Musical Therapy, using Tibetan Singing Bowls to help alleviate medical conditions in people at his studio, Noreside Music,.
